How do I measure for a reproduction?
Take a measurement of the length from tip of the tail to tip of the mouth. Take a measurement of the girth (around the fish at the largest point).
Most people don’t carry a flexible tape measure with them but there is a way to do it using fishing line.
A. Stretch a piece from head to tail and cut it at exact point.
B. Wrap a piece around the fish at largest point and cut where they intersect.
Save pieces until you get use of a tape measure and measure the two pieces to get length x girth. A good quality picture is also very important.
What do I do with a freshly caught fish?
A couple of photos immediately after the fish is carefully landed. Don’t let the fish thrash around too much and cause damage to itself. You may want to wrap a wet towel around the fish to keep it from thrashing around. To freeze the fish, carefully wrap it in a wet towel(not just damp) making sure the entire fish is covered by the towel. Then slide the fish into a plastic bag and make sure there is no air left in the bag and tape shut. Freezing time depends on size of fish.
Shipping methods can vary on outdoor temperature, distance, and location of shipment.
